A Blessing to the Community
The work on the new hospital has not only been a blessing to us, but also to the whole community. One of the first things we had to do was work on the road coming to the clinic. This was not only important for us, but it was also important for the Attenzion School which is also on this road.
When we asked the engineer what we needed to do to fix the road, he said, “ You don’t have a road, you have river!” And it was true, as you can see in this picture. After a good rain, this is what our road looked like. The frequent flooding also carried away soil which left the road very rocky!
Our gate is on the right of the road.
The road was a county road, but the budget for the year had been spent months ago. The road equipment was available, but we needed to pay for fuel and the operators time to get the job done. The road was completed from the main highway, on past the clinic and the Attenzion school, with drainage ditches and culverts. This has completely changed transportation in the area, making travel much easier for everyone.
Of course, with the widening of the road there was the issue of the power poles now being in middle of the road, but that was easily remedied.
The improved and widened road with the entrance to the clinic left of where the person is standing.
With good drainage, the flooding has been eliminated and the road is well suited to big trucks delivering building materials and clinic supplies.
